Early Bird applications will open on April 15, 2017 for this year's festival! An application fee of $15 will get you 2 submissions to be reviewed. As in previous years, the Calgary International Burlesque Festival will use an outside selection committee to score submissions on a rubric. This allows for an unbiased approach as well as different perspectives to be represented. We will post the rubric along with the application link on April 15th. After the early bird ends, the application fee will increase to $20 for 2 number submissions. Any questions can be directed to the Board at firstname.lastname@example.org
Calgary Burlesque Society (CBS) is a not-for-profit organization that plans and runs the annual Calgary International Burlesque Festival. The Festival grew tremendously this past year, 2016, and we are working to position this young organization for sustainable growth as we continue to deliver its mandate:
To promote the art and entertainment of burlesque to audiences in Calgary and to provide a venue for burlesque performers, both local and beyond, to celebrate their art form and inspire each other through performance.
The board is a working board (no executive committee or paid staff) thus all operational duties and festival planning are carried out by the board members. This is an exciting & challenging opportunity to gain valuable board governance experience while contributing to the development of Calgary’s International Burlesque Festival and championing the associated burlesque communities, both near and far.

We here at CIBF like to keep you on your toes ... Have you got your tickets for Friday night yet? Why? Because we have a very special Honored Guest taking the stage at the Friday Night Cabaret: coming from Seattle it's Maggie McMuffin!
Maggie McMuffin holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After years of combining nudity with other theatrical genres such as rock musicals and cabarets, Maggie started burlesquing in 2010. Initially a stage kitten for Montana's premiere troupe The Cigarette Girls Burlesque, she quickly began work as an emcee and performer. In 2013 she headed for Seattle, quickly becoming a mainstay in the scene.
Drawing inspiration from past and present pop culture, Maggie combines comedic flair with the gritty dance moves of 1970’s strip clubs. Known as The Pelvis of Justice, she's here to hip-thrust her way into your heart. Maggie performs around the United States, often making stops in Portland, Oregon. She is the 2015 winner of 'Dirty, Dirty Stripper' at the Seattle Burlesque Games. Iva Handfull awarded her ‘Best Overall Performance’ at the So You Think You Can Iva Competition, an informal dance off that Maggie took very seriously.
**And yes, Maggie is the burlesque dancer who was kicked off of a JetBlue flight in 2016 for wearing shorts.
Maggie will be offering her 'Big Hair Don't Care' workshop on Saturday morning!

Canada's longest running female DJ Collective. Molly Fi and the GOD squad have produced, DJ'D and hustled well over 100 shows since the collective's inception back in 2003. Not only focusing squarely on females in the industry but working hard to break down barriers for all artists. Definitely a staple in Calgary's dance community, you or someone you know has been to one of their shows and knows when it comes to talent, they have some of the best rocking the decks.
