The calgary international burlesque festival's statement of diversity and inclusion
The Calgary Burlesque Society (The Calgary International Burlesque Festival) is committed to ensuring the inclusion and representation of diverse performers in our Festival events and showcases. Performers are selected by an outside committee and not by members of the Festival’s board. Each submission is graded on the same rubric, however the Calgary Burlesque Society Board of directors curate the shows to include visibility of performers who identify as performers of colour, performers of size, performers over 40 years of age, performers who identify as differently abled, and performers who belong to the LGBTTTQQIPPMNSAAA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Two-Spirited, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Pansexual, Polysexual/Pansexual, Maverique, Neutrois, Sapiosexual, Aporagender, Asexual, Ally) community. The final curation of the Calgary International Burlesque Festival will reflect the full range of bodies, identities, and expressions that make up the burlesque community today.
